「製琴師繩結」係一種特別嘅上線方法。佢嘅原理係透過將弦線綁喺弦鈕，從而防止弦線滑出弦鈕。

「製琴師繩結」有兩個好處。第一，由於弦線無咁容易從弦鈕滑出嚟，咁做會有助結他保持音準。第二，用一般上線方法，弦線接觸弦鈕嘅主要受力點會形成尖角，於是較易斷線。而「製琴師繩結」上線時主要受力點會有一個較為溫和嘅轉角，無咁易斷線。（詳細請看圖2一般上線方法比較）

咁又有無壞處呢？當然有啦！好多表演者同埋隨團技師都唔會選擇呢種上線方法，主要原因係太唔方便。如果結他喺表演途中斷線，「製琴師繩結」會令拆線同換線嘅過程慢好多，所以佢哋會選擇其他方法上線。

Guitar Repair Diary #401 "Luthier’s Knot"

The “Luthier’s Knot” is a special method of stringing. Its principle involves tying the strings to the tuning pegs to prevent them from slipping out.

The “Luthier’s Knot” has two advantages. First, since the strings are less likely to slip out of the tuning pegs, it helps the guitar maintain its tuning. Second, the normal stringing method forms a sharp angle at the main contact point between the strings and the tuning pegs, making them more prone to breakage. However, with the “Luthier’s Knot” method, the primary contact point forms a gentler angle, reducing the risk of string breakage. (Please refer to Picture 2’s normal stringing method for a detailed comparison.)

Are there any drawbacks? Of course! Many performers and touring guitar technicians do not choose this stringing method primarily because of its inconvenience. If the guitar string breaks during a performance, the “Luthier’s Knot” would considerably slow down the process of restringing, so they opt for other stringing methods.

In the end, there is no perfect stringing method. The most important thing is to choose a method that suits you best.
