Making frets with a rounded hemispherical ball end like this presents a challenge in handling the length of each fret.

If the fret is too close to the edge, it can cause discomfort when playing. On the other hand, if it is set too far into the fretboard, it increases the risk of the guitar strings easily popping out beyond the fret. Determining the overall length of the fret is indeed not a simple task.
